Blow to Telcos : TDSAT declares 3G roaming pact Illegal

Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT)  today gave a split verdict in the 3G intra-circle roaming case. Holding the 3G intra-circle roaming pact illegal, the TDSAT Chairman, Justice SB Sinha directed Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to send out fresh notices to telecom operators while another judge PK Rastogi, dismissed telecom operators plea saying they cannot provide roaming and 3G service by having mere 2G licenses.…

DoT to impose 8% uniform license fee on telcos from April 2013

As per the newly approved National Telecom Policy, Government will charge a uniform licence fee of 8% of Annual Gross Revenue (AGR) from all telecom service providers across all category of service and circles (metro A, B and C categories) as compared to the existing range of 6-10 %, from the financial year 2013-2014.…

Airtel adds maximum GSM subscribers in May 2012

 

Bharti Airtel with the highest subscriber additions, 2.01 million, in the month of May 2012 has now a total user base of 185.30 million. Whereas 1.2 million subscribers chose Vodafone, which has now a total user base of 152.84 million. Airtel and Vodafone was followed by  Idea and Aircel, which reported an addition of 1.75 million and 8 lakh subscribers respectively.…

Re-farming of Spectrum – Top Telecom Guns writes to Pranab Mukherjee

In an attempt to stop the re-farming of spectrum, the top telecom guns Airtel, Vodafone and Idea have sought FM Pranab Mujherjee’s immidiate intervention.
